When Pseudomonas comes to visit.

For about 30 seconds yesterday Reed and I held on to the hope of being able to have Parker home for Thanksgiving. Alas, reality reared it’s busybody head and we resigned ourselves to Parker spending Thanksgiving in the hospital for the 4th time in his 7 years.

Yet again we’ll be expressing our Thanks with a grilled cheese sandwich and a giant Dr. Pepper over ice.  While they may have redecorated the Rainbow cafe here at Primary Childrens Hospital, the food still stinks.

It seems as though every time I turn around someone is coming in to tell me about a new flavor of  yuck that has grown out in the vast array of cultures taken from every orifice Parker has, both God and man made.  Today’s surprise?  Pseudomonas.  (If that’s not spelled right blame the RT. I had to ask him how to spell it.)

This is where I’d usually show you a picture of our Brave Hero.  Except  you’ve got an important meal waiting for you tomorrow and he’s all covered in snot.

You’re welcome.

Due to a particularly ugly cap gas result there was talk of transferring Parker down to the PICU.  Better to ventilate you, my dear.  Luckily, an especially talented RT suggested that we set up a machine that could monitor Parker’s CO2 out put in real time.  Even luckier that machine showed that Parker was indeed doing a grand job of blowing off his excess CO2 and we are still stilling here on the I Pod in the room that screams PLAGUE!

You can’t see it in the picture, but in the tiny lettering at the very bottom it suggests you burn your clothes after visiting.

Praying for y’all… grilled cheese is usually the choice of mine as well. It seems the safest.

I’m thankful that you are in good spirits, have a Parker to hold and love, and are being given good care.

    And for bleach. ;)

So sorry he’s so sick. Yep, we’re well acquainted with pseudomonas as well. So sorry you’re still up there. The blueberry pancakes on Tues/Thurs morning are pretty good, too. Still in my prayers. How’s the family doing down this way? Let me know if we can help.
