Many a morning Parker wakes up and the very first thought he shares is: Book.
Yeah. That is one sign he is never stingy with.
Two of his favorites right now include:
Snowballs by Lois Ehlert. Actually, I love anything that Lois Ehlert does. Her books not only foster imaginations, but vocabulary too, as her art utilizes pictures of objects found in everyday living.
She even includes a popcorn ‘snowball’ recipe. You know, for kids who eat. sigh.
Phyllis Root explains the coming of winter in her book Grandmother Winter. The scratchboard illustrations by Beth Krommes are nothing short of magical.
A lesson in the technique of scratchboard illustration would be excellent for older children.

Until Parker is healthy enough to meet the world head on, I am passionate about bringing the world to him. Books are an excellent way to meet my goal.

Those are great books! And through books you DO bring him the world.
Good books Parker
How wonderful that Parker loves books so much!!! That is the best thing a child could love
I will have to check into these books for my boys. Thank you so much!
Hugs,
Amy
Yay Books! I love books! I need to read to the kids more…I’ll add that to the list of more things to do.
Hey, I thought you might like the post I put on my blog yesterday. I’m sure you can relate to a few things on there.
Hi Guys,
My class has not come back to school yet, but they will in about a week and a half. Then we will be using our class blogsite which is still in the state of construction at the moment. We have linked it to our Junior Crew Bookself Blog. It has heaps of online books , poems, songs videos, linked to it. We’d like to invite you and any of Parkers Friends to come and visit us there and share with us what you have been reading, watching and listening to. I started bringing my kids ‘out into the world” last yearby showing them how to use the internet, play on links and visit the blogs of other classrooms. This year the big goal is getting them to send messages to others and take an interest in what others are doing. Unfortunately although many schools visit our site, not may leave a message. Or they are happy to email me and say what a great thing it is to see a special needs blog, but never send messages to the kids. I think it is because they are not sure how to communicate with kids with disabilities, so finding blogging buddies for them is hard. But not impossibe ( I hope).
The direct link to the Junior Crew Book shelf will be
http://juniorbooks.blogspot.com
but you can find us on our class blog from February 2nd at
http://juniorcrew.blogspot.com
If you’d like to check us out to see the sorts of things we do in our class you can visit our 2008 blog at:

I hope that your whole day is as warm and gentle as the start of it was and that you are getting more rest.
Take care
Books rock! Those two look really good – we’ll have to find them.
Ohhh – I just brought that exact Lois Ehlert book in from the car this afternoon
I haven’t read the other one – I think I’ll have to check it out
Brady too, has a great love for books and frequently goes through his bookshelf and his sisters, looking for his favorites!!!
WTG Parker – I just know you are going to be a GREAT reader!!!
Hi Tammy! We’re big Lois Ehlert fans too–in fact, we just got “Hands” out of the library today. The illustrations are so unique. “Leaf Man” is my favorite. Enjoy those books!! –Jen
Tammy, You are such a good mamma! My mom always fostered a love of books in me, also. She always took us to the library, and to this day I love the smell of that place! Have a fun day with the little guy I’ve fallen in love with via the internet. My love and prayers for Parker, JenK
