Parker spent yesterday afternoon and on into today with a fever, super green goop coming out of his nose, and a really fun cough. Because of this the Right Heart Cath procedure has been canceled until he is healthier. His cardiologist wants him to be in the best health possible before he undergoes this. Parker was put on yet another antibiotic today and we are hoping this one does the trick. In the last 10 days we have paid about $150.00 in antibiotic co-pays alone.  While we all know of the issues I have with my insurance company, I must say that I am glad that I didn’t have to pay full price for these last three meds out of pocket.  Every once in a while these guys do come in handy.

But instead of dwelling on black holes like my insurance company, I want to share with you what Reed was up to last night. He planted our garden! I was seriously thinking of not even planting one this year. It is a lot of work and I am a lot of tired these days. But that garden helps so much with the food budget that it doesn’t make sense not to plant it.  Plus I really love both my veggie and herb gardens. It is the greatest feeling to be able to walk out my kitchen door and just a few feet away find the most amazing treasures: ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, beans, onions, peppers, lettuce, so many different herbs and more! Reed planted a lot of organic varieties of veggies this year and I plan on stocking my freezer with fresh stuff from my garden to make into baby food for Parker! Absolutely, totally organic goodness for the picking! Yum!

I remember the first time, as a newlywed, I thought I’d impress Rob and plant a garden. Oh my word. Planting it was the easy part. The rest of the summer was tortuous. I’ll never understand why the weeds do so much better than the vegetables. I was a full time working NEW mom and I can tell you, that was my last first and last garden. People have no idea how much work is behind those garden fresh vegetables you put on the table at dinner time.
