Update

Well, our 9:15 surgery time was pushed back until 2:00 p.m. The PICU here is a madhouse and they had to wait until a bed was free for Parker before they would take him into surgery. Then the surgery that got bumped up into Parker’s time took longer than expected…….and our Brave Hero hit the gurney at 2:00.

Finally Parker’s surgeon comes in to talk to us. He says he has been thinking and conteplating doing this procedure laproscopicaly. <——- Forgive my cruddy spelling. I can’t figure out how to open a second window on the computer here to look it up. I really am a horrid speller.

He says he as looked over Parker’s test results and believes that with no fistula, and the fact that Parker’s rectum is so well formed and perfectly sized, going in this way would make for a better experience.

Going in this way means that Parker’s tush muscles won’t have to be cut down the middle. MUCH less recovery time. If there is any kind of fistula, or other issues it can’t be done this way. But Parker’s surgeon believes that this will be a slam dunk.

Of course half way through they may find something totally unexpected and have to open him up from his back door anyway. But for now we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Performing this procedure in the manner had been discussed with me before, but since we had always been told Parker’s defect was so high, I never even gave it a second thought.

I’m hoping we haven’t made a mistake. But I know how much easier his recovery will be, and I just think this kids so deserves a break.

Please keep the prayers coming. Pray that this will have been the best decision for Parker. Pray that his PH issues will be able to be controled for the next 3.5 hours of surgery and then for his recouperation time.

Please pray for no PICU surprises this go around.

The surgical nurse is going to call and give us updates each hour, so I need to head off and make sure I am there in the waiting room when she calls.

Thank you so much…….for everything.
