The Power Of A Cheeto

Who knew that a little puffed bit of orange  could be so enticing.

Salty and savory, these curls accomplish something nothing else had be able to do.

005

Convince Parker that eating really was worth the effort.

006

Parker will come up to me and sign eat and then point to the cabinet that keeps those puffs of cheese safe from all the brothers and sisters that would love to devour them. This cabinet contains Parker’s Secret Stash.

It’s amazing what this kid will do for a Cheeto. He’ll identify his colors. Climb the stairs. And demonstrate mastery of new signs.

Granted this doesn’t solve all of Parker’s feeding issues. The breakthrough is in the fact that Parker wants to eat his Cheetos. He asks to eat.

One thing I have learned by having a child with special needs is to celebrate even the smallest of triumphs. Because it is often the memories of those joys….the hope they inspire…. that get you through the rough times.

They truly are the stuff that faith is built on.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.  Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

Exciting Progress! Very small perhaps to those not familiar with our world but Ginormous to those of us used to measuring in “inchstones” rather than milestones! Just keep Swimming Parker ;0)

I’m jealous, I can’t wear orange well like Parker. Very, very cute! Yay, buddy! Maybe he’ll like pancakes, too, those (and Cheetos) are foods I don’t have to coax my kids to eat! hugs from cali!

  8. YES!!!! *pumping fists into the air and jumping up and down*

The feeding therapist convinced The Love Magnet to try multi textured foods by dipping cheetos into chocolate pudding. I cringed. It worked. The woman was paid $150/hr by my insurance for the privelege.

Hmmmmm. I think Cheetos should be included in food storage, don’t you?

  9. Seeing him eat these just makes me feel happy!!! I love Cheetos too Parky! I am so glad he is wanting to eat Tammy!! YAY for positive things!!!!!!!

Oh girl, Dakin LOVES Cheeto puffs! That is one of the few things he will eat as well. It has recently been brought to my attention that the trach may impair taste, and those are strongly tasting, so maybe that’s why both he and Parker like them? Hmm..

  12. Way to go Parker!!!
