The Coming Home

ETA: We’ve had poop! Once yesterday with the help of an enema. And once today with just prune juice on board.

We’re working on a bowel management plan for the Brave Hero. We’re starting with lots of fiber and a daily bolus of prune juice.

I’ll write more on that later.

The days after a hospital stay bring with them a certain rhythm. The settling back in to home. To trust and security.

For Parker there must needs be an emotional healing after the physical healing.

Slowly we work on removing what’s left from our stay. The residuals of needles, tape, and pain

We focus on the gentle, realigning our hearts as well as our equilibrium.

We read, we sing, we paint and we pray. From a very young age Parker has known to fold his arms and bow his head for prayer. He recognizes from whence his strength, courage and blessings of life come.

And slowly, the smiles return. The wings take flight and hope is once again airborne.

  3. Parker, I love you so much. You are truly the sweetest little boy. So full of strength, hope and belief. This post brought tears to my eyes Tammy. He is so beautiful and picturing him praying just sent me over the edge! You must feel like the luckiest person on earth to have Parker! And I know he feels the same about you!!

I am so glad he was able to go to the bathroom and get some relief! He must feel so much better :)

    Love ,
    Amy

Okay, I’m so glad he’s pooping!

So I was sitting here looking at the pictures and reading the update with Chloe on my lap. She was kicking and jabbering, not paying any attention. Then all of a sudden she looked over when the last picture of Parker smiling was up. And she started smiling and kicking and trying to reach and touch him. It almost made me cry. Okay, it DID make me cry – just a little. These precious spirits. They know so much more than they let on. I wonder what she was thinking….

  5. Barb says:

Poor little guy. The second photo – he looks like he’s just completely worn out from it all. The last photo? That one looks like victory to me.

  6. Melissa says:

YEAH FOR POOP!!! It looks like Parker likes his bath. Tucker sits in the stream of water as well and just watches as it hits his hands and belly.
I completely understand the healing process once you get home….home is an awesome, magical place. Hugs to you!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard the terms “bowel management plan”. You learn something new every day, right?
