Rats!

Parker has been perfecting a new skill.

Crawling!

Man, if I could turn a cartwheel I’d have been flipping them all over town this weekend! It wouldn’t have been a pretty sight though, and I’m sure my family appreciates me trying to cut down on how often I embarrass them. :)

I was all set to get some video of him chugging along, except the minute I break out the camera, Parker refuses to budge.

Typical male. Especially typical for the variety of males grown at our house.

I am thinking that Parker was thrilled with his new skill for the first moment or two. Now that he realizes that we expect him to crawl on, you know, a regular basis, he’s reconsidering the effort it takes to crawl compared to the ease of his beloved butt scoot boogie.

So, instead let me leave you with a picture of Parker during the BYU basketball game this weekend. Parker and Reed hang out together while they watch sports. Parker did the best he could to keep his eyes open for the whole game. Really. He did.

But the call of Mr. Sandman was just toooo enticing.

What a beautiful scrapbook layout this picture is going to make, no?

In other news, I’ve decided that three years of stress eating and not making time to exercise has done enough damage to my body thankyouverymuch.

I’ve never been a big eater. But I did get into a three year long habit of trying to make things better with junk food. All of the prolonged hospital stays didn’t help either. Eating is one of the few forms of relaxation you have when your baby is in the PICU.

I am ashamed at how much weight I’ve gained. While I’d do anything necessary to take care of Parker, it is time that I start to remember to take care of myself too. I miss my energetic and upbeat former self. And I know my family does too.

So, I’ve teamed up with Weight Watchers and dusted off my eliptical trainer and setting some goals. I’m sure it will take me close to a year to get back into my size 8′s……..

But that is my goal and I am sticking to it.

Crawling is highly over-rated anyway ;)
And good for you for taking a step in the healthy lifestyle direction! Maybe I’ll step with you… I was going to have cookies for dinner… I made them with half wheat flour… so they are… um… kind of good for me, right? Okay… I’ll have corn chowder or something like that. Good luck on your goal! You’re an amazing gal and I know you can do it!!

Parker is just precious! WTG on the crawling!! Kennedy would never perform for the camera either! LOL

I’m right there with you on the stress eating. I started my diet in January and am down about 15 pounds… I have about 30 more to go. We can BOTH do it!!! :)

  3. Christine says:

Congrats on the crawling!! That is awesome.

I just finished my dinner, a piece of coconut cream pie. Maybe I should be checking out the Weight Watchers website too instead of perusing blogs….of course that bag of jelly beans over there looks pretty good too….

I have no doubt that you’ll be back in your size 8′s in no time! Good luck and good for you for making YOU more of a priority. A happy mom=happy family.

That’s my goal, too! Good luck with it!

  5. You hadn’t posted in a few days and I was praying that things were good over there.
That picture of Parker is just fabulous. Love it!
And I’ve been on the “get healthy” kick for a little while now (well, I should say “back on” since I’ve quit nearly as many times as I’ve started!) I’m cheering for you!

  6. Hooray for Parky! Crawling is indeed a huge accomplishment!

I’m on WW, too. Down 15 and 35 to go. I’ve tons of low-point recipes, let me know what ingredients you are wanting to use and I will steer you in the right direction.

That is an adorable picture! Good for you for taking care of yourself. I am in the process of weight loss myself. I would like to remove some nasty lbs. from my bottom and tighs :) Mine is caused from stress eating and sitting on my rear all day long!

  10. Melissa says:

    WooHoo! Crawling!!! YEAH!

  14. Shannon says:

WTG Parker! And Tammy, I am doing the weight watcher’s thing too… been doing it since the beginning of November.

talesfromthescales.net is a good source, too for some weight loss encouragement.

  15. Congrats on this major milestone! Fantastic news!

  16. Kei says:

    Whoo hoo on the crawling!!!

I have no doubt that once you set your mind to something, you will accomplish it. Parker is proof of that determination of yours. I will be cheering you on in your weight loss goal.

    Hugs!

  17. Jen says:

Definitely make time to take care of yourself. You can do it, and you deserve it!

I’m with Parker on the sports-watching. Snoooooozzzze.

    Also, crawling? Awesome!

  18. Barb says:

Isn’t it awful, the junk food you can find in hospitals? That never ceases to surprise me.

There comes a time when you realize, you have to take care of yourself too. My daughter (and several other people I know) had great success with Weight Watchers. Krissy lost over 30 pounds and she told me it wasn’t even hard.

As much as you dedicate yourself to the needs of your whole family, including Parker, doing this will make you feel good about yourself and that’s as important as everything else you do.

  19. Kay Drakesmom (from T/21) says:

    Hi Tammy,
Does Parker use the 1000 ML Kangroo pump feeding bags? If so I may have a box for you depending on the cost of shipping. I need your zip code to find out the cost. You can email me at drakesmom310@yahoo.com Thanks Give Parker a big hug and high five from us on the new found skill. Great work Parker.

  20. How dare you make that child crawl. If I lived next door he’d never have need to exert himself. Seriously, YAY PARKER! And oh my what a more than precious Parky fix. Thank you.

About your goal, oh yeah, you’re going to reach it. *kicks you in the butt* (but with love).

There’s a bit of love for you at my place.
