P is for Parker.
And plague. The end of which I hope we have come to the end of.
Because we never know when Parker is going to be sick, we home school year round at Parker’s Preschool.
Today we learned about the letter P.
We needed our purple pasta and our purple plate. And glue. We needed some glue too. Well, perhaps there was more than just some glue.
We also snagged Parker’s name sign. He’s learning to recognize his name.

Here our Brave Hero is checking to make sure his Mama spelled his name correctly. She’s had a rough couple of weeks.
Blech. Okay, maybe now I get why she keeps telling me not to eat the glue.
Too much glue on my hands? No problem. I’ll just store it up here until next time I need it.
Oh, the concentration!
The completed project.
Now this may not seem like such a big deal. In reality this represents a session that include tears, frustration, and some really mean looks from Parker. Parker’s pincher grip is excellent. It’s the idea of letting a small object go after being placed that we are working on.
Which is different from letting a small object fly through the room. That’s an already accomplished skill.
sigh.
So…….what are you guys doing to help build skills this summer?

SWEET art project, Parker! I wanted to have “learn Spanish” playdates, need to research that! Things that are free, fun & educational, for sure. Lots of library time. Lots of park action, and the beach. Thanks for a wonderful post, I was excited to get your tweet
Pretty Prefect Parker! We started the summer off great and then I got broncitis, so we’ve missed a few days of “home school” as Lily calls it this summer.
Parker is such a cutie, I love the glue in the hair(sorry) it’s really cute .
Parker!!! You did a beautiful job, that is the prettiest P I have ever seen!!!! I love you little guy! P is for Perfect Parker
Love,
Amy
I love the creative use of glue as a hair gel.
This summer we are working on teaching the boy to ride tricycles. For Harry it is just fun, but for Evan it will help him strengthen his left leg and make him use his left hand to help steer.
Well. Isn’t he just getting to be the “P”ro at this. Good job, Brave hero!
To give you an idea on my expectations for this summer, I Will leave you with this entry for my Facebook page (wow,, that sounds weird):
Ahem.
Just finished the “Summer Daily Schedule and Chore Chart”. The Great and Mighty Organized Ruler of the Kingdom of Excel and Word will protect my sanity through the summer. Things will flow. Smoothly. Without fussing or arguments. With Happy Grins and and “Why, yes. I’d LOVE to do that mom”. It will be s’wonderful and s’marvelous ….. *snore* *Cough* Wah! Wah! Darn I must have dozed off there for a minute ….
Pretty Proud of Parker! and momma too
Summer is filled with basketball camp, Agape riding camp, Lose the Training Wheels (again- we didn’t lose them last year!) and some math/reading/writing thrown in at home and a measly two hours of extended school year. Not as fun as Parky’s Place!
Have a wonderful time this summer Parker

That’s a great “P” Parker!
We’re practicing laying on the floor, because hard surfaces are scary. And practicing sitting, because those silly early intervention people have that as a goal for this time next year, even though we’re *this close* to it. And working on sign language – don’t get me started on early intervention teachers who think that pointing is good enough for a little guy who already knows some signs…..
Oh, he is so cute and I love that purple pasta.
You are soooo very good with everything. I wish I had 1/2 the patients you do on things…you are doing wonderful…. Parker is a doll baby. Love the concentration, tongue out, gotta get it done, almost there….look.
Hugs to you all!!!
Hello Tammy and Parker! I love your use of hands on and multi-sensory tasks to teach Parker. As a School Psychologist that has worked with numerous children with DS or other genetic disorders, I know how valuable it is to have parents who are so creative.
Thanks for having a wonderful blog and website for support. I will pass the word to parents I know who have children with special needs.
You must be so Proud. Proud with a P, you know. From Paige with a P.
Puh, puh, puhraaying!
Luv Parker’s choice of hair gel. Too stinkin’ cute.

Great job with the letter P and persevering (another P word!) to finish it!
How did the glue wash out of his hair? LOL
