Sometimes what you perceive as being a grand plan turns out to be, well, a dud.
Case in point:
We’ve embarked on a Snowman unit. It was all smooth sailing until I introduced the art project.
Making a Marshmallow Snowman
The object was to glue mini marshmallows within the outline, thus creating a fluffy little masterpiece.
And the fact that it incorporated Parker’s current OT skills wasn’t an accident either.
I should have taken my first clue that this wasn’t going to go well by Parker’s first reaction to the little cup of marshmallows.
Oh, so NOW the kid decides he wants to put food in his mouth. arg. lol.
But wait! Look! That’s the grip we are looking for!
Alas, it quickly deteriorated into Parker just wanting to hurl handfuls of marshmallows towards the stinkin’ snowman and be done with it.
I can’t say that I blamed him much.
Here’s the finished project. Parker and I both breathed a sigh of relief when it was done.
Wisely I decided that the white on black painting could be postponed.
Indefinitely.

LOL! I would of ate the marshmallows too, Parker!
Hey – that’s a pretty sweet snowman Parky!!!
Brady’s not much for marshmallows – eating or gluing them on something – so tell Parker he’s in good company LOL
Hi Parker!! You are so cute. I love your marshmallow snowman.
Yummy, now you just need some hot cocoa.
Parker your snowman is very cute. Junior did one like that last month but was using cotton balls, I like the idea of using marshmallows.
He actually got quite a few on the snowman. It looks great, keep up the good work with those little fingers. Hugs from Lacey and Jax
What a doll!! I LOVE his snowman, it looks beautiful! Parky, you did such a good job!!
PS, I would eat the mallows too Parky
My son calls them mushmallows, lol!!
Love ya’s,
Amy
AWW gosh he’s getting soo big! What a beautiful little boy you have!
LOL. It’s all about the process. Love that grip. Good job Parker!

Woohoo, for great grasp. Of the situation. Tammy. Gotcha!
I was thinking cotton balls, too, maybe just 3 in a row to make one SMALL snowman. I bet you can think of about 6 different ways to help Parker create a snowman. Then line-up all his snowmen and reinforce generalizing the concept – all these represent snowmen.
Don’t guess he gets to actually play in snow, eh? Just wondering…..
