Parker’s bowel is beginning to wake up.
Painfully.
With lots of Parky Poots.
Root-i-toots
and
Brave Hero Fluffs
All exiting via his brand new Teeny Tiny Designer Hiney.
The doctors won’t give him anything to relieve pain from this flatulence as it is believed that this is a good sign.
As they stand outside the door to Parker’s room and discuss this issue with me.
Cause it is smelling kinda rank in here.
Cowards.
But it is obvious that our Brave Hero is in a lot of pain. From him crying out, to his sats being only in the 80s on 7 liters of O2, and his heart rate still being way too high.
It is going to be a very long day.

Oh man- poor Parky – those pains can be so very painful
Not that I’m admitting I’ve ever had any, mind you – cause you know – women just fluff
Sending prayers that his bowels are woken up and working fine here asap and that he doesn’t have to be in pain – breaks my heart.
Shame on those cowardly doctors
Well, I am glad for the toots since it is a good sign. I agree that the doctors are cowards and should be in the thick of it with you! I am so sorry about the pain. Sending you a big hug right now because the one thing worse than being in pain yourself is to watch your child in pain. I am praying now for the pain to ease and all of his stats to get to where they need to be.
Keep on tooting Parker! Keeping the prayers & positive thoughts going that his system starts acting the way it needs to soon. Hugs to you Tammy.
Hope you brought your nose plugs! Praying that Parker gets better and better all day long and of course for God to give you the strength that you need to get through another long day and night in the Hospital.

I am happy to hear the surgery outcome is what he went in there for. My prayers are that his figuratively-big-heart surrounded by his often-too-tensive-lungs will relax a bit. My prayers are for you and Reed and his family, too. My sincere sympathy.
I guess you can tell why he is crying – but did you consider that he does not like the smell either? (as opposed to pain)
Is he awake? I’m guessing you spend a lot of time diverting his attention – videos of his crush/signing lady and other pleasurable sensations. Got some good-smelling lotion? Rub some on yourself, too. If the room temperature can be controlled, a floor fan – blow the air out to the hall on those chicken-MDs.
You are the best woman to write about bodily functions in the least offensive way. My hat’s off to you for really good blog writing.
Don’t worry about that too much, tt is a good sign that his bowel is working fine. Isn’t that what we are working towards anyway? However, I think you should discuss about the pain relieve with the doctors again tomorrow. I don’t remember my son been without pain medication throughout the recovery period.
I don’t think you are getting much rest either. You need to relax a bit.
i am glad things are working like they are suppose to. lots of prayers for a really quick recovery and for his pain to subside.
Tammy, I’ve sent your message along to Rachel (and Lindsey & LeeAnn at Signing Time too).
Love ya too friend.
So sorry Parker is so uncomfortable. Don’t understand why the docs are saying PAIN is a good sign? Were they concerned they didn’t have his nerves hooked up right?
*hugs* Hope the pain goes away (SOON) as the function keeps improving.
sorry it hurts Parker but really it is a good sign. Tyler’s bowels took 8 days to wake up post ostomy closure. Maybe there is a cream you can numb the area so it doesn’t hurt? I was told the more it happens(gas & stool) the less it hurts!
Just thinking about you all and checking in. I hope little Parker is feeling better!!!
That is really quite funny! I hope he’s gas free soon.
Well this too shall pass.HA! I’m glad to hear Parky’s bowel is up and kicking. I’ve been thinking about you guys for 2 days. Hang in there Brave Hero and big hugs mommy.

YEAH!!!!!!! Parker is tooting!!! How wonderful! Stinks (no pun intended) that it has to be painful, but how wonderful that things are starting to work!!
Poor guy! Though if that’s a good sign I’m happy for you both… Hope the pain subsides SOON!
No one writes about flatulence nearly as well as you. Yay for tooting!
Boo for pain…but woo hoo on the designer hiney!
Been checking in and had to read your post to my husband! Yippy re: the tooting! I’m so sorry that he’s in such pain though. Sending love, prayers and loads of hugs from Elliot and I.
I’m glad to see he is moving forward. I will pray that Parker isn’t in pain for much longer. Poor little guy.
Oh Parker, you toot a toot and hope the pain subsides soon…..and mom can open a window.
hugs and prayers for recovery, and someone get Tammy a Xanax please!!
Poor Parker, but wonderful that his bowels are waking up. Lots of prayers for a quick recovery.
Toot away Parker! You’ve earned every toot and fluff
