It Won’t Be Long Now…..

Is this one Cute Patoot or what?

And it is going to be walking before we know it!

Thanks to my Mom for the new shirt! I love to put Parker in simple tops and cloth diapers during the summer. It saves me from having to purchase shorts (yay!) and it is an outfit that allows easy access to his g-tube.

I know yesterday’s post was a bit beyond angry. I’m going to try to get back to the positive again. Reed had just shared with me some pretty rough financial news that he had been shielding me from so as not to make me worry.

Well, I’m worried. What can I say? Worry is a major component of my DNA. And I’m kinda scared to tell you the truth. I put my blinders on to get through Parker’s surgery, and now it is time to stare reality back in the eye again.

I’ve been trying to think of what I might be able to do from home to bring some funds in. Just being able to earn grocery money each month would really help bring some much needed relief.

I have some friends who have started selling handmade items from their blogs. Even the cost of selling on Ebay is getting ridiculous.

I’m still thinking and contemplating. And hoping a great answer reaches out really soon and bops me on the head.

Hopefully before I need to go grocery shopping again.

Parker has a cardiology appointment today complete with an Echo. Knowing how much I HATE these visits Reed has offered to take him and one of my older kids to this appointment. I seem to be a jinx at these things anyway. When I go the news is always bad. When I don’t go it tends to be better. Really.

I know our family CAN make it through all of this. I just don’t know HOW.

Yet, anyway.

Tammy, have you ever tried kijiji.com?? It’s online classifieds, and it’s FREE! (unless you want to pay for your ad to stay at the top for a length of time). You can post for your area, that way you won’t have to worry about shipping either. Easier than organizing for a garage sale, cheaper than Ebay. I had inquiries on something within minutes of me posting an ad. Just a thought.

  2. Is he ever cute!!!! Just look at that little doll! YAY PARKY!!! I cant wait to hear you are walking :)

Tammy, Etsy is a wonderful place for handmade goods. And it is very reasonably priced! You should check into it :) I Just LOVE it there! Let me know if you need anything.

    Love you,
    Amy

Praying for good news from the cardiologist!

  4. Oh Parker, good luck at the cardiologist. I will be checking in to see how things go.

All my love and lots of hugs,

I second Etsy. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a whirl.

I am so sorry for all your worries. Been there and done that, just not quite to the degree as your family.

That is a super cute diaper on a cute little bum. I am sorry that things are looking so rough right now. I hope that some how some way things will start looking up for you soon.

Hmmm….can you sew? There’s a HUGE market for little kid clothes and cloth diapers, especially here in the South. Right now, short jons, pillowcase dresses, A-line dresses with bows on the straps (or in the back), baby bubbles, and ANYTHING MONOGRAMMED fetch big money.

For example, a simple short-jon, with nothing (NOTHING) on it, would fetch an easy $40. And that would be a dirt cheap price. Add $10 for a monogram and you have yourself a still cheaply priced outfit for little input money.

Don’t even get me started on matching brother/sister sets, or little girl/doll sets. Ever heard of the American Girl dolls? Make clothes fitting those and you’ll probably fetch $20 or more an outfit.

Also, we Southern ladies lurve our fancy flippy flops. If you can attach a bow to a simple flip flop, you can get about $15 – $20 around here.

    I kid you not.

And? If you can smock, we’re talking outfits in the 70-100 range. I paid $20 consignment for a smocked baby bubble for my daughter to wear to her father’s birthday party next week. New, it was easily 60 – 80.

I’m not sure if that helps, but for someone with an easy hand at sewing, there’s a lot of money to be made, and it’s work from home. I? Cannot sew a button and am exceptionally jealous of those who can.

    Good luck!!

OH!! And some others: Personalized, or just nice burp cloths, bibs, towels. Also, baby slings. Burp cloths go for about 8-10 each, bibs, about 10, and towels, about 20-35. Baby slings? About 30.

There are a lot of people who have caught on to these on Etsy already, because they are simple to do. But I do believe your loyal readers would give you some preferential treatment. :-)

  12. I have no suggestions. Wish I did. But I have lots of hope and prayers and love for you guys. I know it will all be fine…don’t know why…but usually I am right about these things. My family says I’m freaky about stuff. :)
