  1. Delurking finally. I come here at least daily. While I don’t have a child with special needs, Parker’s story touches a special place in my heart. I used to babysit a little one with DS when I was in high school and adored her. No one has a heart as large as a ds child, IMHO. Parker is absolutely beautiful (although clearly perturbed in that picture!! LOL). I have been praying for Parker, and wish there were something I could do to make things easier for him and your family. I guess in my own way I am trying: I have been lobbying with co-workers and the doctors I work for/with daily for lower health care costs quite heavily. We have been to our states capitol numerous times. We refuse to accept any “bribes” from drug companies. We will accept their free samples, as many of our patients rely on them, but we will not take their pens, sticky notes, invites to theatre, invites to dinner, free tickets, or even the offer to provide lunch for the staff. There has got to be a way to prevent families like yours from falling through the cracks. I work in a family medicine office, and all too often we see similiar cases, or even just families going through a short-term hard spot. The doctors I work for don’t hesitate to write off a bill…they feel it is the least they can do to help those in need, as that is WHY they became doctors. Does this enable them to run their business extremely successfully…not financial (but enough to survive), but in the matters of the heart, absolutely. While we don’t get paid as much as staff at other “normal” offices, we wouldn’t trade it for anything. I wish the other doctors of the world would take notice and help out also. Sorry if this seems like I went off on a tangent, but this is near and dear to my heart and it makes me wish Parker could benefit from this. One day…that’s our goal. Sorry I didn’t delurk sooner. Parker has a friend in CT. God bless, and I will continue to pray!
