He’s Ready For His Close Up, Mr. Deville

My sweet friends Janice and Susan gifted me and Parker with a Flip video camera, part of the veddy fine swag Susan received at a recent blogging conference.

Parker LOVES to watch himself on video. Unfortunately, trying to create that video can be a bit of a hassle when the star decides not to participate.

I loaded him up in his swing today……..and did the best I could.

I love the shirt Parker is wearing. It reads: I make noise and messes. My kids think we should add and funny smells. heh.

Yesterday we drove over two hours up and back to get Parker the first of his H1N1 vaccinations. For his age he’ll need another one in about 3 weeks.

I was kinda shocked at how long the line was. People had been camped out for almost 2 hours! I thought everyone was too afraid of this vaccine.

Obviously not.

Parker’s nurse stood in the actual line while I strolled Parker around outside. Having your medically fragile kid rubbing shoulders with a typical kid who is putting in great effort towards hacking up a lung isn’t the best of ideas.

Just sayin’.

Because we know Parker wouldn’t survive this flu we are also going to have to postpone the rest of his scheduled testing for about a month. Primary Childrens is seeing a lot of kids with H1N1 and we simply can’t take the chance of Parker being exposed before he has received full protection.

We are officially under lock down protocol over here. Which means that Parker and I won’t be leaving the house much, if at all, and visitors will be be scarce to not at all. I knew it would happen, but I was hoping for at least another month or two of freedom. Well, of free-er anyway.

Dang good thing this kid is so cute.

Parker had to stop all his oral food intake, relying now just on the g-tube. This isn’t sitting well with The Brave Hero. But we’ve found traces of food in his trach nose way too often lately to take anymore chances.

So, until he can get the second round of the flu vaccine, then wait a week for it to be effective, and then get all the new testing done, then wait around until somebody comes up with a clue or..uh…reason as to what is going on, Parker will be Cheeto-less.

Which is making him pretty cranky.

Me too, come to think of it.

I owe a lot of people a lot of emails. It has been beyond nuts here. I’ll touch base when I can. Promise. And I’m working on getting my hope back.

It’s harder than it may seem sometimes.

  1. I love your website….. I was wondering where you get Parkers little slippers. I’ve been trying to find some for my son.

But I can tell you are better.

I’m thinking a recording job for you – reading chldren’s books for audio books. Surely that is not a volunteer venture.

    PfP&T :)

Well if that isn’t the cutest thing I have seen in a good long time! Ewwwwwww, he is so yummy and you are a number one mommy! I will return to this over and over, thanks for the smile!

SO glad you had someone to wait in line for you! Did Parker get the injectable vaccine? I keep hearing that the mist is not for kids with lung disease, but it just sounds safer to me. Still on the fence about what to do with Ralph.

Best wishes with your lockdown. I know that can be tough. Keep your chin up.

I’m praying that God will renew your hope, peace and joy. I know that is easy to say and I also know from experience not so easy to do at times. I also know it’s not impossible, for I know that nothing is impossible with God.

    Love in Christ,
    Suzi

Can you still receive packages? I am thinking some love via UPS might be in store for the cooped-up months!

  8. Dawn says:

Parker is an adorable boy. Thanks for introducing him to me =)
I remember lockdown days, they’re awful. Praying the flu stays far away.
