Parker’s heart rate is down in the 40′s again.
Of course not once did this happen the whole entire FIVE days we were in the hospital.
Because then somebody who might know what the heck is going on would have been there to witness it.
I did talk to Parker’s cardiologist. He wants us to count his heart beats when this happens to make sure the pulse ox is working properly.
It is.
We’re keeping a log documenting these dips. Seeing if perhaps they correlate with anything. Like the fact that Paker had no bowel movements today.
Tomorrow we start the liquid senna. Our life is an open book, no?
I could title this book, “The Poop Chronicles” It could make a whole lotta money and our financial worries would be over.
Or, you know. Maybe not.
Sometimes a very low heart rate can be a sign that one’s pulmonary hypertension levels are getting worse. Previously Parker’s heart rate has always been too high. It would be unusual for this low heart rate to be symptomatic of his ph getting worse.
But then again, not that unusual.
Did you know that a low a child can arrest due to a too low heart beat?
Yeah. The fun never ends around here.
Just think how rich we would be if we could bottle up all this stress and sell it.

Prayers headed your way!
Lots of hugs and prayers coming your way.
Oh sweetheart. So sorry for all your stress.
Sending love, prayers, and groovy ‘get better soon’ vibes your way.
Your life is like a antidote for a xanax overdose. My prayers? you got ‘em!
When you first said he had the bowel obstruction after the bradycardia, I figured he was having vaso-vagal attacks from the pressure on the colon. I gotta believe that’s still the case- be it constipation or inflammation, or maybe even ileus. I’m still hoping that’s it, because it will be temporary. Nothing like a little worry with your stress, eh?
Prayers for your little one…
found you on twitter, will keep praying.
Prayers for you and Parker. I hope his heart rate gets back to normal soon so you can get some peace of mind and some rest.
Oh, sweetie. Praying.
Oh no. I am so sorry. Poor baby
WHY cant this little guy get a break?? I feel so bad. I am praying…
Love you,
Amy
I’m hoping things improve, and soon. Besides all the scary things going on, I have to say that I just realized how much Parker has changed since I began reading. He looks like a grown little boy. LOL! I mean his face shows so much maturity and strength. He’s such a handsome little guy. Have a good weekend! *hugs*
40′s are scary! Praying that you find out what the problem is…and SOON!
Remembering you all in my prayers. For so many reasons.
I was just thinking, too how Parker looks more grown up, now. He looks good, sorry he doesn’t feel good.
I like the idea of “The Poop Chronicles” book. LOL! It is amazing how it takes over your life, isn’t it? I remember seeing laxative commercials where people dance around because they were now “regular”and I never got what the bid deal was. The last 7 years have taught me! Of course laxatives isn’t what Ben needs.
Hoping Parker’s heart listens to yours and perks up a bit.
I agree with Alisha. The picture of him in the tub, I had to look again. He looks so “toddler” like, and he should he is 4! ( I know you are saying that) I just cant get over how he has changed. I dont always comment but I am lurking checking in on everything. Parker is always in my prayers. I will keep him there ….

Yea, that slow heartrate associated with arrest is known here. Can’t.offer.much.more.than.prayers. I’m thinking, like the other commenters, that prayers are valuable. I read many blogs by parents in which there is an obvious absence of the mention of prayer or God. The title of this blog is a testimony to your faith.
But I think we need to pray for you, too, Tammy. Am I reading too much into your words about the stress you feel with every next expisode in the chronicle of Parker’s medical problems?
I am Praying for Parker and Tammy.
Praying for your sweet family.
Prayin!! Again and again… I’m prayin!
Peace Peace Peace to you today!
Today my prayer for you is that VERY soon you will have 24 hours of boredom. I mean bored! As in nothing to monitor, nothing to do and nothing you could be doing. Just good ol’ “Man, I think I’ll turn on the tube and veg out for a couple of hours” boredom!
You are all in my thoughts today.
I really do think you could write a book about your struggles with your insurance and your life. If you had time of course.
I wish that I could do more for Parker and for you! Please let me know if there is anything I can do!
Lots more prayers in your direction. Add some hugs in for a little comfort, too!
I’m praying for you both.
All my love and prayers to you.
{big hugs}
xo, alli
Praying!!
Steph
Hey – I can write a chapter in your book – we have so much experience in poop around here right now
Seriously though – keeping you and Parky in our prayers. And, I have to agree he looks darling in that tub picture, all rosey and round
He is such a doll!!
I know all too well about that. I suffered from all those issues when i was born. I just had my second heart surgery at 36. But they can’t figure out why my heart slows down. Very strange. I”m praying that the docs find out the issues and put your mind at ease!
Yikes! Parker needs to give you guys a break, I think you have had enough “fun” for awhile. Hang in there.
Hang in there, things will be fine.
Little Z had a very bad constipation during Christmas and the New Year. Because it was the holiday season and his doctors are not to be found – I guess all the money I have been paying them can allow them to enjoy long holidays – the other doctors in the hospital kept on giving enemas to a 1.5 year old boy. His little man-made anus was getting to look so horrible due to the intense pushing. And he couldn’t keep any food down. I didn’t think I was going to make it but I had to be strong for him. Constipation had been a very close “friend†of his for a couple of month now since the day we closed his colostomy.
Finally, he started to improve after weeks of pain and suffering. He is still on laxatives but at least he is able have one proper bowel movement per day. I am not sure how long this good condition can go on, but I sincerely hope and pray that the constipation can be a thing of the past, and things will be fine from now on.
I am really new here and I am not able to get your email. If you please, email me.
You and Parker are never far from my thoughts and always in my prayers. Everytime I go to PCMC I feel like I should ask who is checked in that day, Parker, Rhett, Jaxson, etc.
I love these guys!
Still praying.
I can totally relate to the “Too Low Heart Rate” drama, lately we are woken up to that lovely alarm. Does it never end?? I can totally relate to your stress! Praying for Parker and you of course.
Suzi
I just want to hug that sweet little boy! He is absolutely adorable. Keeping you in my prayers.
Precious Parker we are praying for you sweet boy! And tell your Mommy to hang in there too. We love her so much as well. Give her a Parky kiss from us please.
I am reminded of the hymn “I Need Thee Every Hour.” This song makes me cry everytime because it is so true. We need our Father in Heaven and more than we realize sometimes. Cast your worries and your fears onto Him and let Him worry about them for you for a while..you need a break. I’m sure that’s not an easy thing when it comes to your child, but just know that many people are sending prayers and love your way and the Lord will take care of things. Stay strong and soak up the love!
I’m thinking of sweet Parker!!
You guys are always in our prayers and will continue to be!
Your Parker is in my prayers, as always! I pray you find the answer…
I’m praying that his heart rate stays up there. We are on a Holter Moniter right now so I’m praying that his bradycardia goes away so we aren’t dealing with something serious ourselves.
Oh, I’m so sorry about all the stress! I hope the Brave Hero’s heart rate goes up and you find out what might be the cause of this.
I thought of something last night as I was attending to Luke’s needs in the middle of the night. One secret we learned when Luke was first in the PICU is if a child’s heart rate goes too low put an extra blanket on them, sometimes they are too cold which causes the heart rate to go down. I know that we’ve done this many times with Luke when his heart rate is too low and quite often, not all the time, it will come up a little bit to where we are more comfortable.
Still praying,
Suzi
I was just stopping back by to see if there was an update. I was hoping to see a turnaround for the best. I am still praying. Love you Parker!!
