I bet you were surprised when you got the call that our family was no longer in need of your services.
Not even the Saturday night shifts.
I was intent on dismissing you a couple of months ago. But the nursing service asked me to keep you on for at least one night so they could keep you on their rolls. I knew you needed the money and because I know what it is like to have money issues, I agreed.
One night a week.
We could survive one night a week, right?
My mistake.
Saturday morning, when Parker woke up at 5:00 a.m., you were irritated.
So, by your own decision, you choose to give my son an EXTRA dose of meds to put him back to sleep.
You had options.
You could have taken a few minutes and patted his tush……that always puts him back to sleep.
You could have turned on a DVD.
But both of those would have required effort on your part, no?
Do you know what sleeping medication does to a child when given to them at 5:00 a.m.? It makes him a zoombie for the entire day.
My usually happy active kid could do nothing more than sit in my lap…..and stare.
Despite you telling my husband that you do this kind of stuff all the time in the hospital, I know for a fact that before you can give a kid an extra dose of ANYthing you must have both permission and a script. You had neither Saturday night.
Any nurse (especially one who is getting paid over $20.00 an hour) who feels the need to drug a kid back to sleep for the last three hours of their shift NEEDS to be fired.
Immediately.
And so you have been.
May the force of 1,000 doors hit you in the ass on your way out.
Or better yet, may the nursing home your children stick you in be staffed with nurses just. like. you.

It is UN- FREAKING- Believable. I’m glad she lost her job, but good grief, what is that in comparison to the damage she may have caused. I’m so sorry your sweet boy had to be doped up all day and will pray it has no lasting ill affects on him. I could seriously write a book here regarding some of the issues we went through with hh nursing. Praying…praying….

Parker’s mom… YOU ROCK!
As soon as I read the line about the doors hitting the nurse in the ass I knew you were my kind of girl.
I am just so sorry Parker had to be involved with such a nurse.
I wish you had kicked her in the ass on the way out. that is UNACCEPTABLE. this woman should not be allowed to care for anyone else….so glad you are rid of her……
Whoa. I hope you reported her. That’s not legal.
Oh my goodness. I’ve been reading about your horrible experiences with night nurses and it is just solidifying my resolve to work in-home with Peds patients once I graduate Nursing school. Kids like Parker deserve help that actually gives a damn about them. No one is going to replace their parents but really, REALLY? I’m just shaking my head at this. Not acceptable at all.
That is so terrible. We’ve had a few bad nurses in our day, but that takes the cake. I’d say call the Board on her arse. It’s malpractice! For real! We thankfully have the *best* night nurse.

Oh wow…I would be after her license/certification. Definitely file a formal report/complaint with her agency and see if you can find some sort of licensing board to complain to. That is beyond irresponsible and all the way to dangerous.
OMG I want to reach through my screen and strangle someone! What a pathetic excuse for a human being, let alone a NURSE! First rule: DO NO HARM! I will come kick her arse for you!!!!!!!!

Absolutely infuriating. You’re really nice not to seek litigation – losing her job should be the least of her concerns.
Just no words. I would file a complaint with the state board of nursing for practicing medicine without a license. Seriously.
