And Suddenly My Heart Is A Little Lighter

We received the results of Parker’s sedated chest CT.

The results were “consistent with severe chronic aspiration.”

For some parents this would be bad news.

For us though it is actually good news.

This could be a reason why his cardiologist wasn’t able to get his lungs to oxygenate the way they should.  Add this to the trach stoma revision that will reverse the gaping  airleak around his trach and we have a passel of pretty powerful potential positives in helping Parker’s lungs get healthier.

(How’s that for getting you money’s worth out of the letter P today?)

In that weird kinda way this is good news.

Aspiration can be reversed.  Terrifying lung disease….. not so much.

Welcome to our life, baby.

Where weird rules.

That is great news. I know sometimes you have to be happy for the not as bad result. Fixable is always better than not. Sorry, no “p”s in this comment. You used them all up I guess.

  2. Beck says:

Well, that is fairly good news! I hope it turns out to be EXACTLY as you hope and that Parker gets healthier and healthier.

  3. Charity says:

Sometimes it’s the not knowing that’s the bad news. Now you know, and you can do something. Hope the next surgery/test/appointments go well and Parker can have a wonderful Christmas season.

  4. Krista says:

    Yeah for the “bad” news!

I answered your question in my comments.

  11. I agree, it is good news! It does make you wonder why docs didn’t check for that a long time ago. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 right? The nissen will be a good thing, like i said, we’ve done 2 nissens.
I would love to talk to your friend that has adopted many medically fragile kids. I think that would help a lot!

  12. Marie says:

Wonderful. And yeah, I totally agree weird rocks. Same at our house. :)
